Costa Rica: leafy, agreeable, peaceful... it is PURE LIFE!
Costa Rica is the green country pre-eminently. A unique tourist destination that collects a great biological wealth in very little space. In its 51.000 km² one can find from a volcano in constant activity to the beautiful marine funds of Cahuita, including obscure sand beaches and crystalline waters. Furthermore, the peoples' amiability and heat make a peace and quiet clime. Some characteristics that convert it into the ideal country for all kind of bridegroom couples: with adventurer spirit, with desire of spending some days profoundly relaxed... A country to enjoy in thousand different ways
The population of Costa Rica surprise by their tranquillity. Its inhabitants are usually very calmed, serene and quite responsible. It is not usual to find people requesting in the street neither haggling. To first sight, it gives the impression that all the population belong to a social and economic middle class (though the reality is another, and quite different). Although it is really close to Caribbean, they do not have that Latino spirit that it's found in the countries around. However, in the Limón zone, we can find more parties and music as reggae.
The communications net is successfully developed. Moreover, the fact of being a relatively small country (51.000 km²) facilitates the transport. Among highways and roads a total of 63.447kms it's covered, so that it's easy to be moved from the capital (San José) to any of its points more outstanding, as the natural parks. Furthermore, the movements among the parks are not made as a kind of excursion, but there is a line buses regular company that has a list of the people that they must collect in each hotel. They usually do not take a guide, but it does in the special Tortuguero bus (very recommendable organised excursion). If it is preferred to rent a car, one must to recall the speed and the alcohol are very penalised. And for those that have only a few days, there is the option of being displaced from a national park to another by helicopter.
Recommended itinerary
If one has not too much time, it is advisable to select the visit zones so that one could enjoy a little the variety that Costa Rica offers. First of all, one must know that all the flights arrive in Sant José after have made some scale (usually Miami).
We advise three nights in this city because the first one already is lost because one usually arrives late, as well as the day used to visit the parks. So, it is necessary another day to make the rigor visits: the National Theatre, the Central Park, the Cathedral and the central market "La Casona".
One of the parks that one must to see is the Tortuguero. It is the only one with channels and you can house you in lodges in the middle of the vegetation. It is only possible to accede there by boat, by launch or on foot. During the stay at the park it is visited the small Tortuguero village, the museum, a butterflies enclosure and you will walk for the rainy forest and see many animals as, for example, birds, crocodiles, monkeys, lazy bears, turtles, etc. From July to October it can be seen the largest and famous tortoises laid (one must go at night and with expert guides). We do not recommend making a special excursion in the jungle because you would see the same in the one that already is included in the price. An advice: when you arrive, as it's good weather as it's bad, take with you some water boots and a raincoat because the weather is very variable.
We would continue to the national park Cahuita (marine park) where you can arrive by the river making rafting. Furthermore, one can take a bath in the Caribbean sea, since it is located in the south of these paradisiac waters. There is the possibility of visiting a great coral bank where there are very nice tropical species.
And there's also a volcano. It's the Arenal volcano and from there it is heard the roar of the land. With a little of luck it can be seen a red lava lode descending at night because this volcano is in constant activity since 1968. The nearest village is La Fortuna, where some excursions are organised. There are excursions on foot, on horseback, and some ones to practise canoping and rafting. You also can bathe below the Fortune river waterfalls or you can eliminate your tension in the river Tabacón thermal baths.
In order to finish your honey moon in a relaxed way, you can spend some days at the Tambor beach, where there are good hotels and they offer the All Included, in addition to a wide activities offer (diving, fishing, rides in launch, surfing).
The trip that we propose to Costa Rica it's12 days last, in May, and an approximate price of 300.000 pesetas (about 1.800 Euros).
Country curiosities
It is a country without army. There is no expense in armament; it is preferred to invest it in education and health improvement.
The Costa Rica natives are called TICOS or TICAS. The cleaners mistresses (MUCAMAS) leave an envelope in the room so that you give them fee the last day. Usually it's a pair of dollars.
You can not forget...
Prismatic.
Photographic material (reels and batteries and a machine to make photos below the water).
Mosquitoes repellent.
Solar cream.
Comfortable water slipper and some ones laced for the rafting.
Knapsack for the excursions.
Small lantern.
International driving licence and VISA card if it is wanted to rent a car.
